As Heard: DARPA Has Steerable Bullets

Written by on April 28, 2015

The fine folks at DARPA, you know those eggheads who brought you all those nightmares with humanoid robots through Boston Dynamics, have brought something even more terrifying. A bullet you can steer. This thing can be fired by an expert or novice (or trained killing machine robot) that when fired and moves through the air, will correct its course and trajectory and hitting the target every time.

The agency has named this EXACTO. Besides sounding like it came from a James Bond movie, it stands for EXtreme ACcuracy Tasked Ordnance. It was designed, so they say to “Increase the hit rates for long range shots.”

The latest round of testing went so well that the program manager, Jerome Dunn said that it “demonstrated what was once thought impossible.”

Now, if they team this up with all those damned robots and make them all look like Arnold Schwarzenegger,we would all be truly f’d.

Sweet dreams.
